NAT JAM!!!

Post by DaveK on Tue 12 May - 10:44

Anyone interested in attending the National Jam in Brisbane this year. First weekend of October.

I'm thinking of organizing something. Maybe hiring a tarago or something for a few days and driving down there? It's a fair way off but it's comming up quick...

Also, I know it's a huge thing... but have a think about Townsville hosting a Nat Jam in future... I'm pretty sure I'd be able to get enough support to make a Townsville hosted Nat Jam a possibility and probably even more professional and smoother than any of the other cities... just because of the support we have here... also thinking if it's a three day thing we could have an indoor, outdoor and natural environment setup, one each day...

Depending on the exact date, I may be on my honeymoon. That also depends on how long the honey moon is Razz. Getting married at the end of September. Maybe we could have it down there and then go to the NAT JAM while we're there. LOL. maybe not.

But that does sound exciting. Very interested.

I'll be up for it, I'll talk to the boss tomorrow & see if i can get a week off.
I'll also start spreading the word to see who's interested, this could turn out pretty good if we can get a group down there !

Also, I know it's a huge thing... but have a think about Townsville hosting a Nat Jam in future

I've never really thought about it but we would have to have spread the word out for 6months or so i recon to get a fair amount of people to turn up. Would be pretty wicked everyone together from surrounding city's for a massive event Smile

No no no... you're not getting the whole picture. I mean actually put a bid in for Nat Jam 2010!! I think Perth and Adelaide are the main contenders for next year, the application stuff happens in like Feb/March and Votes April/May I think.

I think that the thing that would put us on top is if we could get a legitimate application, with support of youth agencies I work with, PCYC, council etc... So far Nat Jams have been plagued by security and police issues apparently.

Nat Jam apparently is expecting 150-200 people in Brisbane this year and it's growing year to year... imagine that here...

My God !
It would go pretty good since there's so many traceurs around the NQ area that are looking to train but haven't had the opportunity.

Whoever hosts the NAT would definitely see that as a positive thing but i don't know if it's randomly selected or based where the most people will turn up. But that is defiantly something that we will have to keep in mind Wink

It works like this...

Any city can put in a bid for it (similar to the olympics). You have to show pics and examples of training areas and look at things like cheap accomodation (I have a lot of that in the pipe-line). Then it goes to a public vote via the two parkour websites...

You can find all of the NATJAM details on the www.parkour.com.au forums and it's the second weekend in October.

I'm definately going, flights are already booked. Flying down on the Thursday and back on the Sunday night. At this stage I am probably only going to be attending Fri/Sat and not Sunday so that I have time to spend with family and do something nice for my sons first birthday.

I am pretty sure that Hartley is going to be comming also and staying with me.

See you there guys, what an opportunity!

I'll be there, just getting flights and 'stuff' sorted now, so should be all set by the end of the week.

I don't doubt it mate. I also don't doubt that we'll fail Wink That being said, we are focusing more and more on S&C, particularly in our second Monday session, and I think we're seeing quite a few people getting more and more serious about it and seeing some improvements. Can't wait!!

I hope so John, I would love to see Josh give up the smokes and add some serious fitness to his obvious skill and passion for Parkour.

Josh - reminder the Monday classes are on break over the school holidays , the next two Mondays. Thursdays will continue as normal, although it looks like John and Tony will be at next weeks Thursday session.

Yes unfortunately lol
WILL be giving them up withing the next few months.

Dam, was just starting to learn a few things at Mondays sessions too Sad
All good will be at Thursdays for the holidays & will try to get the Stuart boys coming again as i know they have lots of potential Smile

Also John: I was wondering if you will be training everyday while you back up here, I would love it if i could tag along and train with you, though i know that you have your own training to do so i wont be getting in your way.

That's pretty likely mate, I'll be staying in Gulliver, so training at the weir, pimlico, aitkenvale etc is no problem.

I will be training solo at times, but there's no reason not to join in on other days.
