Hey, where's everyone been? Eli and I have been attending quite regularly and it's disapointing to see so few of the original group... We've expand the group considerably with new additions each week... come on guys... lets make Saturday Jam massive again...

Yes !, Sorry for my part as i have been free the last 3 weekends !
My dog 'Bundy' dies last week and have been really psychotic from the two week psychedelic experience but it's been a week and i am slowly getting a grip on myself.
Looking forward to seeing how everything's been going the last few weeks & how many people are starting to train
Anyways gonna go have a shower, have a bit of a warm up & then head out to UpperRoss PCYC. So have fun & see ya guys this arvo for some quality training
Saturday Jam
Hey guys, I went to centre stage today (Saturday) at 12 and no one was there except younger guy and his mother... We waited till 12:30 but noone rocked up. I phoned David and was called into work.
Are you guys still meeting there or what???
This is the second time I've been to the saturday parkour jam and no one has been there... :S

Re: Saturday in the City
We explored up both sides (along the river and behind the clubs) of Flinders St, up to the Ferry terminal and the parklands around the Marina. It was a really good day, thanks to all those who attended. I'm really looking forward to going back to a lot of those spots to train properly.
This Saturday the guys from the Channel 10 program State Focus will be at the Jam taking some footage and doing some interviews. Really important that everyone who can be there gets there this week!!! This is a huge opportunity for Townsville Parkour - you never know where these things might lead to. It's also great for us to be able to get Parkour soem positive media coverage.
If you're under 18 I will need you to sign a media release form so send me an email and we'll work out how we can arrange that - david.kettle@lccq.org.au
Cheers,
Dave.

It's going to be wicked getting a positive message out to the people about parkour & channel 10 is going to make that possibility 50x easier

Re: Saturday in the City
Training today was a bit strange, couple people dont really care what they do to the surrounding area, they just jump in the bushes and break things, this is giving parkour a bad name, the cops showed up and i just wonder what happened afterwards, i wasnt around for a while i left when my mum showed up

they ended up leaving us alone, but yes its things like that that really give parkour a bad name.
Re: Saturday in the City
I personally won't be attending any more City Jam sessions from here on out. I know that there will be a few others who're planning on doing the same also.
Thanks to everyone who's trained with me, taught me something over the last few months it's been a pleasure. A pity that a small minority can ruin things for everyone.

Dam dave that sucks ! ! !
I can get to where your coming from though as i have trained with many guys that do the same thing and it just isn't right in many ways.
Yes, they were pretty bad actions on he's part as that's the first time i have had to deal with the police & didn't particularly want them to know.
It's a shame you can't keep coming to the sat jams because of fear of what others actions can bring you, We really had a positive thing going for a sec.
Still looking forward to training with you at the Thursday & Monday Sessions tho ( luen wants to do another photo-shoot soon so if you got nothing planned. )

Its a pitty youre leaving but we could also have a talk to some people that do attend city jams so that they know not to damage the surrounding environment so it doesnt give us a bad name.

Re: Saturday in the City
Yes, it looks to me like not to many people are following Rule # 1. . . Respect your surroundings. It might be best to go over a few things at the start of every session again, Will be posting a few on the forums too.
Re: Saturday in the City
I apologize for Logan. I don't understand however, why you would let it ruin things for you. I know how hard you've worked to make parkour respectable, and how much you've put in out and inside work, and i love you for it man, but one setback shouldn't be enough to make you drop out on something you set up, something that you yourself said you enjoy.
As i said in the other thread, I do not claim that what Logan did was not stupid or that he deserves no blame. But you know that parkour is not only about strengthening of the body, but of the mind also. You cannot let this stop you doing what you have love, for fear of tarnishing your reputation, or that of parkour. You're strong enough man. you've brought a lot to this group.
If you still wish to leave the Saturday sessions, then i will pick up the slack.
Anyone who still wishes to go Saturday please post so that i know who still wants to go. If there's enough, I'll take up where Dave left off.
**EDIT**
In retrospect i may have been a bit harsh and maybe more than slightly pig-headed in both this and my other post concerning the event on saturday. I want to apologise to you David.

Re: Saturday in the City
It really wasn't just Logan... and that wasn't every my group. I may have been one of the older/more experienced guys there but I was never THE leader.
I'm involved in Parkour (physically) every working day now so I'm getting plenty of Parkour in. I'd much rather focus outside of work on spending time with a group or groups of people who'er eagre to share the same experience as I am - that of physical and mental development/progression. No offense to anyone who's part of the City Jam but I think there's a number of people in that group who just aren't on the same page and so what I want to get out of that group personally is being lost/reduced.
So I guess I'll see those of you who're training hard and have that same sort of focus that I try to have around and maybe one day the others will find the same path and we can walk it together.

Re: Saturday in the City
It's really challenging by yourself, i was training almost everyday for 7months this year and got to a point were i felt like i had nothing left to learn ( but i knew i had heaps ) so i just done conditioning for 5 weeks or so.
Over the last 6weeks of city jams i feel i have learned so much for all the guys that attended. Whether it be a move, path, or simply just some guys to try out what we have learned over the last week. So cheers & thanks for your support !

Re: Saturday in the City
josh is right in that aspect. I didn't even survive 7 months. I spent 3 training on my own because i had no way to contact anyone, and it gets hard to progress pretty quick. I ended up just conditioning for a good month before the new year started and i resolved to get back into it properly.
I don't believe that I'm really all that far away from you in ideals and goals Dave. Sometimes i just show it differently, or don't think before i do something. man i really hope this doesn't put a block between us.
Your a pretty great guy and I'd like to be friends, if it's still possible.
Btw about the other post in this thread, i wasn't actually naming you the leader, just saying that you were the one who set up the jam.

Re: Saturday in the City
Great day saturday guys, saw everyone trying to improve themselves & found some wicked spots along the way ! ! !
We checked out our usual 8spots in the city, round the back of the river / museum, headed to the strand and trained all along there. Went to palaranda shops and had some smoko then headed off.
Someone turned on an alarm while we were training ( we never touched nothing ) but we saw the guy that did and he just wanted us to move on. He must of been pretty confused & had a funny way to express it lol but we respected he's wishes and continued on.
Looking at trying to expand the city jams again, So if ya not doing anythings on saturdays come down & check it out
Anyways great job guys and see you at Daves sessions !

Re: Saturday in the City
It was a guy that worked there.
We heard the alarm and was all wondering WTF ?
Then we saw a guy standing at the door looking at us, i walk up to the glass to tell him that we were not there to be destructive but he was to scared to open the door lol.
He just pointed at us then out the front then at the alarm, so i think he said "if yous get outta here i'll turn the alarm off".
Witch that's what happened... but what a tool he was about it, and dont worry guys that were there sat, im sure we'll see him again
