Reverse Vaults Empty Reverse Vaults

Post by Shadow Sun 26 Apr - 20:04

The reverse vault is a simple way of overcoming a low-lying obstacle. It's one of the simplest vaults in parkour, but it's also one of the most stylish. Entering a reverse spin can be frightening the first few times, but once you build your confidence you'll have a blast pulling the trick over all kinds of obstacles.

*Find a railing or wall somewhere in height between your waist and your chest.
Walk up to the obstacle and place both of your hands on it. Turn your right hand inward so that your fingers are facing you. Your left hand should be in a natural position with the fingers facing outward. This is the grip you'll use during the vault.

*Back away from the object and prepare to make your approach. The length of your approach can vary, but leave enough room between you and the obstacle for you to build power during your run.

*Go over the hand position in your head before you start your run.

*Begin your approach. Build sufficient speed to clear the obstacle, but remember to stay relaxed and focused.

*Reach toward the obstacle and jump from the ground. You can take off using a two-footed punch or a one-footed leap. Jumping from one foot helps you maintain your speed, but jumping from both feet gives you more time to get your hands in position on the object.

*As your feet leave the ground, place your hands on the obstacle and tuck your legs. Start spinning in a reverse direction to the right.

*Take your left hand off of the obstacle and push through the second half of the spin with your right. Stay in a tight tuck during the spin, or you'll clip the obstacle with your legs.

*Land on the balls of your feet and jog away from the obstacle. Smile

You don't land backwards, it's kinda like doing a side-front flip but using your hands to push off. youtube has some excellent examples Wink
